The Spanish company Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) has started commercial operation of the Masrik-1 solar plant in Armenia, marking a new step in its international expansion in clean energy. Masrik-1 projects Armenia as a solar powerhouse in the region
Located on a 130-hectare site, the Masrik-1 plant was developed in partnership with China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) and was supported by financial institutions such as IFC, EBRDthe European Union and Ameriabank. The project has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Electrical Networks of Armenia CJSC, which guarantees its direct integration into the national power grid.
[post_relacionado]In addition to providing electricity to more than 21,000 Armenian households, the plant will prevent the emission of more than 54,000 tons of CO₂ per year. This breakthrough reinforces the company’s role as a key player in the Caucasus energy transition and demonstrates Armenia’s potential in the adoption of renewable sources.
The solar plant adds to a global portfolio of almost 3 GW in operation by FRV, with a consolidated presence in markets such as Spain, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Jordan and Mexico. The commissioning of this plant reflects the company’s commitment to sustainability and positive social impact in each territory where it operates.
