Earlier this month, Venture Global began mobilizing equipment and contractors on Phase 1 of the CP2 LNG terminal in Louisiana, USA. This progress marks the opening of one of the most ambitious projects in the global gas sector. The work is being carried out under a Worley-led reimbursable EPC contract that completed the initial phase’s major engineering.

Progress on the project had been on hold due to the need for ratification by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission(FERC). Although the original authorization was granted in June 2024, it was reinstated in May 2025. This enabled the resumption of full deployment of personnel, equipment and contractors to the CP2 site.
[post_relacionado]Worley has been providing engineering, procurement and planning services since the Limited Notice to Proceed. With the restart of the process, the company will commence full construction activities upon completion of preliminary civil works, scheduled for the end of fiscal year 2026. Engineering for Phase 2 is already underway.
The CP2 project contemplates an infrastructure with 36 modular liquefaction trains, establishing itself as one of the most relevant energy developments globally. In addition, initial exports of liquefied natural gas are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2027.
In addition, operations are being coordinated by the offices of Worley offices in Houston and Reading with support from the global information development(GID) team. The company emphasizes its commitment to complex energy solutions and the transition to a diversified and sustainable energy matrix.
Once the Final Investment Decision(FID) is made, Worley will continue the full execution of the project under a Full Notice to Proceed. A CP2 breakthrough that underscores the importance of collaboration between global players in building world-scale energy infrastructure.
