TenneT Germany has marked a new strategic step with the installation of DolWin epsilon, a modern HVDC platform located in the North Sea. This breakthrough comes weeks after the company finalized BorWin epsilonconsolidating its leadership in offshore transmission infrastructure.
Both platforms are part of the DolWin5 and BorWin5 connection systems, which are scheduled to be operational this year. Together, they will transport nearly 1,800 MW of wind energy. wind powerbringing TenneT closer to the goal of 10 GW of connected capacity in northern Europe.

Towards the 2GW program
According to Tim Meyerjürgens, CEO of TenneT Germany, the company is already working on a new technology phase with the so-called 2GW program. 2GW program. The initiative includes the development of multi-terminal hubs and a future cross-border HVDC overlay network. These infrastructures will facilitate a more connected offshore system, capable of responding to ambitious plans to install 70 GW of offshore wind power in the North Sea and Baltic Sea by 2045.
TenneT’s focus is no longer limited to meeting capacity targets, but to designing a realistic and sustainable energy system. Operational efficiency and smart maritime spatial planning are key priorities to achieve long-term climate goals.
