The bp Trinidad and Tobago(bpTT) energy consortium, in partnership with EOG Resources Trinidad, has commenced gas production from the Mento field, off the southeast coast of Trinidad. This achievement is bpTT ‘s second start-up of the year and strengthens its focus on offshore development in the region.

The Mento gas development represents a 50% joint venture between bpTT and EOG, and has become a strategic infrastructure in the portfolio of upstream projects. upstream projects BP’s upstream portfolio.
[post_relacionado]The platform was built by TOFCO at La Brea, and has a 12-slot facility and will operate under a joint license. The first gas flow is from the initial discovery well, while a drilling campaign will continue with seven additional gross wells.
The Mento project is part of ten developments that BP has planned to come on stream between 2025 and 2027. In addition, it is estimated that these will together contribute up to 250,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day, strengthening the group’s energy capacity globally.

For bpTT, this represents our second start-up this year and is tangible proof of the benefits of partnering to bring much-needed gas into production.
The collaboration between bpTT and EOG is progressing well as we continue to work on our next joint project, Coconut.

The partnership between bpTT and EOG has been responsible for previous developments such as Emulation Zone(2011), Sercan (2016) and Banyan (2017), consolidating a joint technical track record. Currently, both companies are working on the Coconut project, scheduled to start operations in 2027, with the aim of further expanding gas supply from Trinidadian territorial waters.
